'Chapman' is a stately and large vase made out of an unknown wood that belongs to the pine family. The materials has been collected from an island outside Bergen.
The growth rings create an intricate pattern surrounding the natural edges that originates from branches. The natural properties of the wood is highlighted in this work of art.
 
The inside of the vessel is left rough, leaving the tool marks visible. This is done to remind anyone holding it that this is carved out by hand. It also gives a beautiful contrast between the smooth outher surface and the rough inside.
